Keepers of the Sky NEW Ch.1 It felt like heaven. We had picked the spot for that very reason. The lake was quiet, with only the wind to break its mirror-like expanse. The summer trees shook their branches of Dawn's silent tears, and the leaves glittered by the early morning light. Conversational birds meekly added their natural cacophony to the setting. Friends and classmates wished me a "happy 18th" with smiles, hugs, and jesting commentary about being finally old enough to lose my virginity.
